This is so fundamental but I just want to see what you all are doing. Now that NJ is on solids, his face and hands get very messy after meals. I wash his face and hands with water after each meal. Is that enough? Should I be using soap or something else to clean him better? Sometimes the foods are "greasy" (like avocados, or cereal mixed with breastmilk) and I don't feel like those rinse off as well.
How about throughout the day? How do you keep your babies' hands clean?

Since NJ has eczema, I'd avoid using soaps as much as possible. Just a quick wipe with a wet washcloth or with your hands a few times by the sink is more than enough. Don't worry about getting him too clean. Hyperclean environments are thought to be a contributor to increased allergies.
i agree with julia.
I use wet wipes for her hands (for my hands too!). They keep Kathryn's hands nice and clean. I just use a wet washcloth for her face, though.
i keep a pack of baby wipes at the table and that works well on Rhett's sticky fingers and face. i like the generic Costco or Sam's brand wipes that pop up on thie own. the only time he uses soap and water is if he's been outside playing and we are about the eat. he stands at the sink and we wash his hands.
like Julia I think we should avoid using soap each time they eat. it'll dry up the skin. I just rinse with warm water at the end of the day. But after each meal i wipe it away with my fingers and gently with bib.
