Thanks to Richard Ferber, NJ is sleeping through the night. He was since 6 months but then went through a regression and now he's back. He'll usually sleep a 10 hr stretch, wake up for a mini breakfast (1/2 a boob's worth), then go back to sleep for another 2 hours. Then he'll wake up and have the other boob.
I've been pumping before I go to sleep at night, usually around 10/11. Is this advisable? I know that my boobs need to be "trained" that they don't need to produce as much milk at night and the pumping might be throwing things off. But I think they're transitioning anyway b/c when I first used to do it, I'd still be really engorged around 2/3am and even be woken by the discomfort. Now, when I nurse NJ at 5/6am, they don't even feel full.
Thoughts?

I don't see anything wrong w/ this. If you think you're going to have days or evenings when you're going to need some stock, I'd advise to keep up w/ doing it. I dropped pumping for about 1 1/2 months, and it became a lot harder to do. I now have to pump at 10PM and/or get up at 5PM if I'm going to get anywhere close to getting a full bottle for Rachel. So, in my opinion, if it's not too much of a pain for you, there shouldn't be an issue w/ doing it.
If you have a need to pump, then continuing to do so isn't a problem. However, don't fret about supply if you're not engorged anymore. Your body will adjust to NJs feeding schedule, including picking up back if he decides to not sleep through the night and you have to resort back to mid-night nursing. Milk is produced continuously in the milk ducts, and as NJ gets older with more demand of solids and less of breastmilk, your body will produce just the amount that he needs.
i use to pump after Rhett went to bed and then use that milk in his cereal the following evening.
